Adele’s ‘SKYFALL’ Theme Eligible for Best Original Song Oscar; 75 Songs in Total Qualify
A grand total of 75 songs have been deemed eligible for the Best Original Song Oscar at the upcoming 85th Academy Awards. Best of all, this includes Adele’s incredible “Skyfall” which many feared would be ruled ineligible by the Academy because it uses notes from the franchise’s original theme song. Thankfully, they considered those cues minor enough to allow the song to qualify and I couldn’t be happier.
Not only will Adele potentially be singing the amazing theme song live at the show, she may also win which means we’ll get the acceptance speech of my dreams (which I’ve written about in previous posts): Adele cackles all the way up to the Oscar podium chewing a big wad of gum, “Fank you, fanks so much everybody! I’m a Bond girl fank you Sam & Dan I loooooove you guys!”. Her only real competition is Matthew McConaughey’s stunningly heartfelt ballad “Ladies of Tampa”.
