New Trailer For Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’ Starring Tom Hanks
Sony Pictures has released another intense new trailer for Paul Greengrass’ (The Bourne Supremacy & Ultimatum) upcoming high seas drama Captain Phillips. The film is based on the 2009 real-life hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. Captain Phillips will premiere at the New York Film Festival and opens in theaters on October 11th.
It was just another day on the job for fifty-three-year-old Richard Phillips, captain of the Maersk Alabama, the United States-flagged cargo ship which was carrying, among other things, food and agricultural materials for the World Food Program. That all changed when armed Somali pirates boarded the ship. The pirates didn’t expect the crew to fight back, nor did they expect Captain Phillips to offer himself as hostage in exchange for the safety of his crew.
Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Abdirahaman, Faysal Ahmed, Mahat M. Ali, Michael Chernus, Corey Johnson, Chris Mulkey, Yul Vazquez, and David Warshofsky also star. Trailer courtesy of Yahoo
