TV Spot For Con-Man Thriller ‘Focus’ Starring Will Smith & Margot Robbie; Film Getting IMAX Release
WB has released the first TV spot for Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s (Crazy Stupid Love) upcoming con man thriller/comedy FOCUS. “Never Lose Focus”… but here’s Margot Robbie & Will Smith. The film centers on a “veteran con man who gets involved with a newcomer to the grifter business, however things get complicated when they become romantically involved.”
Interestingly enough, Kristen Stewart was originally attached to star opposite Smith, but dropped out due to concerns over the large age gap between the two of them. It’s a real shame because their chemistry would’ve been out of this world. Also, if you’re wondering why this film is getting an IMAX release, it’s worth noting that forty five minutes of footage from Focus was shot using IMAX cameras! (No, it wasn’t). IMAX makes everything better so hey, why not.
Rodrigo Santoro and Gerald McRaney also star. Focus will be released in theaters and IMAX February 27. Full synopsis below:
Here’s the full synopsis: Will Smith stars as Nicky, a seasoned master of misdirection who becomes romantically involved with novice con artist Jess (Margot Robbie). As he’s teaching her the tricks of the trade, she gets too close for comfort and he abruptly breaks it off. Three years later, the former flame—now an accomplished femme fatale—shows up in Buenos Aires in the middle of the high stakes racecar circuit. In the midst of Nicky’s latest, very dangerous scheme, she throws his plans for a loop…and the consummate con man off his game.
