First Footage from Alfonso Cuaron’s Sci-Fi ‘Gravity’ Starring Sandra Bullock & George Clooney; Trailer Arrives Thursday
The first footage from Alfonso Cuaron’s (Children of Men, Prisoner of Azkaban) ambitious sci-fi Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney has been released courtesy of the boneheads at Entertainment Tonight. My most anticipated film of the past two years centers on an astronaut as she attempts to make her way back to Earth after a satellite crash sets off a chain reaction of further crashes. We already know it’s going to be an absolute must-see for sci-fi fans everywhere and Warner Bros. will be releasing the full teaser trailer tomorrow so check back for that. Guillermo Del Toro previously remarked that both Alfonso and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki are pushing a new boundary in filmmaking and that Gravity is going to be completely mind-blowing. The film hits theaters October 4.
Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
