Here’s the first official poster for Rian Johnson’s (Brick, The Brother’s Bloom) sci-fi flick LOOPER starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels and Piper Perabo. The film is a time-travel action thriller that involves a killer (Gordon-Levitt) who works for the mob of the future. He, along with other so-called Loopers, dispose of people that are sent from the future. When he recognizes one victim as his future self (Willis), he hesitates, letting the man escape. I’m liking the simplicity of the poster and the I think the tagline is great. Looper is by far one of my most anticipated films of the year and I can’t wait to see the first trailer when Sony debuts it on Thursday, April 12th. Poster courtesy of /Film
Despite having a late September release date, the film has already been screened for several audiences and reactions have been extremely positive so far. Devin Faraci of Badass Digest said the film, “represents a major leap for Johnson, a huge step forward in style and scope. It’s smart and funny and thrilling, the kind of science fiction movie that wildly entertains while never shortchanging characters or ideas.”
Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper”—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. the film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
