SNL Recap: Jeremy Renner Is Given The Late November Shaft
To me, Jeremy Renner, Sam Worthington and Chris Pine are just different variations of the same white guy. Each with varying success, but to me they’re pretty much same. Renner came out of this White Guy Parade as the one with the most success (debatable). He’s been made out to be The Next, but I just don’t get it, I don’t see what the industry people see in him and every movie/character he’s starred in/played since The Hurt Locker has been the same. Also: The Bourne Legacy tried to kill me. Never. Forget.
So, naturally, when it was announced that Renner would be hosting the show I was completely uninterested. And, naturally, the show ended up being a mess, but most of that wasn’t his fault. These late November shows (particularly the one right before the 3 week break until SNL returns in December) tend to be fairly poor. The writers have been working non-stop for the entire month, the election is over, etc… it’s natural. This also tends to be why the host picked for this week is usually the least interesting. Let’s begin:
The Cold Open:
I don’t know what this was besides a big mess.
The Monologue:
He tried. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he really did try but I was uncomfortable for him. His face gave away how f-cking uncomfortable he was and it was like he was trying to say to us, “I don’t know what the f-ck I am doing here either”. He has a good voice though, no?
The Best Sketch:
There wasn’t one (but Weekend Update was solid).
The Worst Sketch:
All of them.
Jamie Foxx hosts the show on December 8th and I can’t wait.
