Are you enjoying your double dose of Happy Endings? I am. Especially when the last four episodes have been consistently good. Much like last week’s two episodes, this week’s were completely different in tone and execution and I loved them both very much. The first of the two was the much talked about Kickball episode that is from season 2 but, because ABC is ABC, it never aired. Read more →
Thanks to ABC’s lame attempt to attract more viewers to the show (a.k.a burn off the remaining episodes of this season and then probably cancel it in May), we were given TWO new episodes of Happy Endings this week. For those who don’t know, the show will be airing on Sundays and Mondays for the next few weeks. I think this is an incredibly stupid idea, but as we’ve come to learn with ABC, unless you are a stable and decent sized hit, the network just doesn’t know what to do with the little shows that need that extra push (here’s looking at you, ‘Samantha Who?’). Hey, TBS, if you’re looking for a companion show for ‘Cougar Town’, I may have one for you… Read more →
Are you still not over last week’s episode? Last week, Misfits broke the conventions of television and borrowed from Wes Craven and killed off a major character mid way through (its season). This is an amazing feat because this rarely happens on North American television (unless your HBO or the like) and if it does happen, it’s either not accepted by the general public or the character (sometimes) comes back to life. I skipped last week’s recap of the show because I felt that the show, or that episode of the show, had become redundant. Relax, I didn’t say that it’d become bad or mediocre – it was still a fine episode – but that this Dana Brody storyline had become much bigger than it needed to be, especially when it started out so ridiculous. What I’m reading online is that many people agree; that Dana’s storyline has really brought down this otherwise incredible season of television. Read more →
Phew. I was worried there for a little bit. I’d built up this show so much and the last two episodes were so mediocre for Happy Endings. Tonight’s episode of Happy Endings is a return to form in many ways, was as manic as ever and there was also some tenderness to be felt. Read more →
Maybe it’s because I’ve (finally) continued with Roseanne (started season 5 on the weekend) or maybe it’s because I bleed 90s sitcom, but tonight’s Happy Endings felt like a plot straight out of an episode of Friends, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Will & Grace and a little That 70s Show. Those aren’t insults, of course, but it felt a little…safe? At least for Happy Endings it did. Read more →
Is there a show you don’t miss? You miss it when it’s off the air but when it’s on and you remember there was a new episode you kind of have to be forced to watch it? Maybe it’s just me but that’s how I am with Misfits. I love Misfits, I do, but it’s a weird relationship we have. Read more →
I worry about Carrie constantly. I worry about Carrie while I watch the newest episode, after it’s done and the days before the next. I know Carrie isn’t real, but if she were, I would worry for her. I want her to take a nice long nap once this is all over – if it’s ever even going to be over for her. Carrie seems like one of those people that don’t let things go easily. Kind of like me. When it was announced a few weeks back that Louis C.K. would be hosting Saturday Night Live, I lost myself. This would, seemingly, be a dream come true. The comedian of the moment. The artist of the moment. The TV show (for the most part) of the moment. The man behind that TV show, coming together with Saturday Night Live? This felt too good to be true. Read more →
