Teaser Trailer For ‘Tammy’ Starring Melissa McCarthy & Susan Sarandon
Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for Ben Falcone’s upcoming comedy Tammy starring Melissa McCarthy. The film centers on a woman who, after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, goes on a road trip with her hard-drinking, profane grandmother.
This isn’t exactly what I was expecting, as McCarthy had previously remarked that the film (which she co-wrote with husband Falcone) was both funny & heartbreaking. We’re definitely not getting a sense of the latter here, as the teaser is solely playing up the slapstick comedy part of the film. It’s an understandable marketing manoeuvre, given the film’s prime summer release date as well as McCarthy’s previous box office successes, but I’m looking forward to getting a better sense of the story and tone in a proper trailer in the future.
Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shotgun, it may be just what Tammy needs.
