First Trailer for SAFE HAVEN Starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel
The first trailer for the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ “deeply moving romantic thriller” SAFE HAVEN has been released. The film centers on a young woman (Julianne Hough) with a mysterious past who lands in Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower (Josh Duhamel) forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her.
I was prepared to cringe throughout the entire trailer but much to my surprise that never happened. What is wrong with me? Maybe it’s because I was distracted by the neat cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” that plays over it or because of Cobie “Let’s Go to the Mall” Smulders, but I actually didn’t mind this at all. With that said, there’s probably a 5% chance I’ll actually see this.
An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
