Emily VanCamp In Talks for Female Lead in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
Revenge’s Emily Vancamp is in talks to play the female lead in Anthony & Joe Russo’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. It’s a bit surprising considering Alison Brie (Community), Emelia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Felicity Jones, Anna Kendrick, and Imogen Poots were all reportedly vying for the role months ago.
The character in question is rumoured to be Sharon Carter, Peggy Carter’s niece, and not a second love interest. Marvel Universe Wiki tells me that Sharon Carter “served a brief term as Executive Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., during the absence of Nick Fury. She then became a field agent once more, reporting directly to new Executive Director Maria Hill as a liaison officer specifically assigned to support and report on Captain America’s activities.” She has special abilities in the following categories (we are all able): martial arts, espionage, & weaponry.
The first film was cheesy but enjoyable and I’m hoping the talented Russo brothers take the sequel in a new direction. Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier is set to hit theaters on April 4, 2014. Via Deadline.
