Evangeline Lilly In Talks For Female Lead In Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’
Canadian treasure Evangeline Lilly (Live Links commercial, LOST, Desolation of Smaug) is reportedly in early talks for the female lead in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. Wright co-wrote the film with Attack the Block’s Joe Cornish and while both plot and character details are being kept under wraps, the trades are suggesting that Lilly is either up for the role of Dr. Hank Pym’s daughter, a character that doesn’t exist in the comics (she doesn’t even go here!), or Janet van Dyne/Wasp.
Furthermore, THR is reporting that the character in question is not just an “intended one-off” and would also likely be appearing in other future Marvel films as well. I’m really hoping the role in question is for Janet van Dyne/Wasp, as I can’t really imagine Lilly would be too keen on playing a simple love interest.
If it does work out, Lilly would be joining Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Michael Douglas (Dr. Hank Pym), and Michael Peña (?). I know next to nothing about this Marvel property but I’m a huge fan of Wright’s and I’m sure we’re in for something pretty special. Production is set to begin this April in Georgia. Ant-Man is scheduled to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
