Watch: First Trailer for Kevin Macdonald’s ‘How I Live Now’ Starring Saoirse Ronan
Magnolia Pictures has released an impressive first trailer for Kevin Macdonald’s (The Last King of Scotland) upcoming doomsday thriller How I Live Now. Based on the award winning novel by Meg Rosoff, the film takes place in the near future and centers on an American girl on holiday in the English countryside with her family who finds herself in hiding and fighting for her survival as war breaks out. Tom Holland, George MacKay & Anna Chancellor also star. How I Live Now opens in the UK on October 3rd.
Set in the near-future UK, Ronan plays Daisy, an American teenager sent to stay with relatives in the English countryside. Initially withdrawn and alienated, she begins to warm up to her charming surroundings, and strikes up a romance with the handsome Edmund (George MacKay). But on the fringes of their idyllic summer days are tense news reports of an escalating conflict in Europe. As the UK falls into a violent, chaotic military state, Daisy finds herself hiding and fighting to survive.
