THE HUNGER GAMES Brings in a Massive $155M (Updated)
So Nikki “Toldja” Finke at Deadline was reporting on Saturday that The Hunger Games would pull in anywhere between $135M-$150M by the end of the weekend and it turns out she was WRONG! Oh, great I just got sued for defamation. Turns out she was “pretty” close and to everyone’s shock and awe, the film ended up grossing an even higher than expected $155M over the three-day weekend. It now holds the record for the third highest-grossing weekend of all-time, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($169.2 million) and The Dark Knight ($158.4 million). Moviegoers saved face by helping it gross more than any of the Twilight films’ opening weekend figures, despite the fact that it was a non-sequel. I saw the film last week and again on Friday and I must say that it holds up incredibly well. It’s a film that deserves to do well and I’m really glad audiences are flocking to the theatres to see it. I’ve attached Jennifer Lawrence’s hilarious interview with David Letterman below so you’ll stay on this site longer:
