‘Thor: The Dark World’ Set for International IMAX 3D Release on October 30th; Re-Shoots Underway To Include More Loki Scenes
IMAX Corporation and Marvel Entertainment announced today that Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World will be released internationally in IMAX 3D theaters beginning October 30th, one week ahead of its scheduled North American debut. Gavin Hood’s upcoming sci-fi Ender’s Game has a limited engagement with IMAX domestically during that week so we’ll have to wait until November 8 to check out the highly anticipated sequel. In The Dark World, Thor battles an ancient race of Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith who threatens to plunge the universe back into darkness after the events of The Avengers.
In related news, director Alan Taylor remarked to The Hollywood Reporter that fans can expect to see plenty of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in the film: “We continue to, what Kevin Feige calls, ‘plus the movie,’ with new scenes being added even now. We’re doing full scenes, scenes that were not in the movie before. We’re adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time. We realized how well Loki was working in the movie, and we wanted to do more with him. So it was that kind of thing, it was like, ‘Oh, we could do this, we could jam this in here because he’s such a wonderful guy to watch do his stuff.'”
