‘Warm Bodies’ Tops Weekend Box Office With $20 Mil; Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Bullet to the Head’ Disappoints
Jonathan Levine’s (50/50, The Wackness, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) charming zombie rom-com ‘Warm Bodies’ starring Nicholas Hoult & Teresa Palmer topped the North American box office this weekend with an impressive $19.5 mil. Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Bullet to the Head’ wasn’t so fortunate (to put it mildy), grossing an estimated measly $4.5 mil over the three day frame. Even worse was ‘Stand Up Guys’ starring Al Pacino, Alan Arkin, & Christopher Walken, which barely made a dent with $1.5 mil.
‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ dropped 41% from last weekend grossing $9.2 mil, good enough for the #2 spot. In third place is David O. Russell’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook,’ which continues to play extremely well thanks to excellent word of mouth and strong reviews. The film was up three percent from last Friday, earning $8.1 million, and is on its way to cross the $80 million mark this week.
