First Trailer for BUTTER Starring Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, Olivia Wilde, & Hugh Jackman
Here’s the first full trailer for Jim Field Smith’s “deliciously unlikely comedy” BUTTER starring Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, Olivia Wilde, & Hugh Jackman. The political satire centers on a Midwestern misfit (Yara Shahidi) who is thrown into the hostile, high-stakes world of competitive butter carving. I saw the film last year at TIFF and while it was amusing, it ultimately felt like a missed opportunity. The script is clever and there are laughs to be had but it’s tonally all over the place.
Butter is finally getting released on October 5th. Hey, that’s right around the time of the election… what a strange coincidence! Kristen Schaal, Rob Corddry, Alicia Silverstone, and Ashley Greene co-star. Trailer courtesy of Yahoo .
Laura Pickler (Jennifer Garner) is the kind of woman who doesn’t accept defeat lightly. That’s why when her husband (Ty Burrell), 15-time winner of the town’s butter carving competition, wants to step down, she takes it upon herself to win the championship title herself. And she’ll do whatever it takes to save her family’s reign in the spotlight, even if it means complete sabotage of her two biggest competitors — a 10-year-old foster child (Yara Shahidi) and husband’s hard-living mistress (Olivia Wilde).
