J.J. Abrams to Direct STAR WARS: EPISODE VII
And the internet explodes. The Wrap is reporting that J.J. Abrams will be indeed be directing ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ for Disney despite him publicly turning down the gig in the past. Going from Star Trek to Star Wars… isn’t this violating a very serious nerd law? Blasphemy! (I could care less.)
The source also told The Wrap that ‘Argo’ director and ‘Gigli’ star Ben Affleck was also in contention for the highly coveted gig. Apparently Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy had been “courting” Abrams for quite some time and it doesn’t hurt that his film credits (Star Trek & Mission Impossible) lend themselves quite well to the Star Wars franchise. At this point I’m so sick of all the rumours of who’s been asked to direct the film and who hasn’t that I’m just glad someone was finally chosen. Time to move on to the rumors of who will star in the film. Can’t wait…
