First Teaser Trailer for THE HOST Starring Saoirse Ronan
Open Road has released the first teaser for Andrew Niccol’s THE HOST starring Saoirse Ronan. The film is an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same name. Huge deterrent right there. On the bright side, it stars one of the best young actresses around today and has nothing to do with mopey vampires. The teaser features very minimal footage and is essentially shots of people with weird, protruding eyeballs. The film doesn’t hit theatres until next March so the lack of footage is understandable, but the teaser really doesn’t do a great job of telling us what the film is actually about. I showed the trailer to a friend and this was her response: “So she just sucked up the Earth with her eye?” And no, my friend is not in grade 3. If you don’t feel like watching it, I’ve transcribed Melanie Stryder’s (Saoirse Ronan) voice-over: “The Earth is at peace. There are no wars. There is no hunger. Honesty, courtesy and kindness are practiced by all. The world has never been more perfect. It is no longer your world.” DUN DUN DUN!!!!! Jake Abel, Max Irons, William Hurt, Diane Kruger, Chandler Canterbury, and Boyd Holbrook round out the supporting cast.
THE HOST is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed. Trailer courtesy of Yahoo Movies.
