Zoe Saldana to Play Gamora in James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Zoe Saldana (Crossroads) is in talks to play Gamora in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. If the deal goes through she’ll be joining Chris Pratt (Parks & Rec, Zero Dark Thirty), who landed the lead role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord back in February, and David Bautista who takes on the role of Drax the Destroyer. The film is based on the comics of the same name which began in 1969 and focuses on a team of superhumans and extraterrestrials dedicated to the safeguarding of the Milky Way Galaxy.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Gamora is the sole surviving member of the Zen Whoberi. Hope that clears everything up. She’s a “green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon.” So, pretty much her roommate in Star Trek?
Gamora was saved as a child by the villanous Thanos, who trained her to become a highly skilled assassin with an emphasis on the sass! “Using her new formidable skills and abilities, she gained the reputation and title of The Deadliest Woman in the Universe.”
